Police take drugs off the street

Yesterday, police conducted an anti-drug operation Oleander and Flamboyant Streets in Belize City which led to the discovery of a pink knapsack containing six pounds of cannabis in an abandoned house. At the time of the search, no one was in the immediate area and the drugs were labeled and deposited as found property. Meanwhile, a firearm was turned into the San Ignacio police. 25-year-old Marco Diaz, a Belizean Ranger, visited the San Ignacio police and handed over .22 rifle.  Diaz told police that yesterday while on training with some recruit rangers in the Chiquibul National Park; they encountered five Hispanic male persons.  One of the individuals was armed with a firearm and aimed it at Diaz.  As a result, Diaz fired a single shot at the male person, who threw away his firearm and fled the scene.
