The Officer in Charge of CIB also briefed the media on the murder of Roy Lord which happened just before midnight on Monday in Belize City.
ASP Alejandro Cowo: “Police visited the KHMH where they observed Roy Gilbert Lord 31 years of age. A Belizean of Lords Bank Area, Ladyville Village. He was seen with gunshot injuries to his body. Initial information that the Police received was that Mr. Lord was walking on Wilson Street heading towards Marine Parade Blvd. when a dark in color vehicle drove beside him, stopped a few feet away from him and a male person exited from the front passenger side and chased Mr. Lord and fired several shots in his direction causing the above mentioned injuries. Mr. Lord unfortunately passed away at 5 am on Tuesday morning. What we understand is that Mr. Lord was going for his girlfriend that works in that vicinity and he had just left from his residence from New Road and that up to now we cannot establish a direct motive as nothing was stolen from him and as a result of that one person was detained, he was questioned and he had to be released because there is no linkage with that crime.”
