PUP calling for full disclosure of Civic’s contract

1 min read

The People’s United Party is calling on the Chamber of Commerce and the Unions to join in the call for full disclosure of the recent agreement signed for the management of the Civic as well as the financials for Belize Infrastructure Limited. They claim that Financial Secretary Joe Waight has confirmed that contrary to what was said at the official signing ceremony last month, there is no guarantee agreement between the Government of Belize and Apex Belize Ltd. The PUP says if indeed such a guarantee exists, then the government continues to violate the Finance and Audit Reform Act since the National Assembly has not approved the guarantee of eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars yearly, nor has it been gazetted.
