Re-registration picking up pace

2 min read

The re-registration process was off to a slow start; however, the number of citizens participating in the re-registration exercise has grown significantly. To date, the number of applications accepted is fifty-four thousand four hundred and fifty-one. During the first week, there was a total of sixteen thousand, six hundred and seventy applications; the second week saw a total of nineteen thousand two hundred and eighty-one applications and the third week a total of eighteen thousand five hundred applications have been accepted. The Election and Boundaries Department reminds the public that their application for registration as electors will be accepted in any of the registration centers which falls within their respective electoral division. The public is also advised that the Independence Primary School Registration Center is open to assist persons wishing to be registered in Independence Village and other nearby surrounding villages of the Toledo East and Stann Creek West Electoral Divisions. As has been pointed out by the Department before, applications will be accepted, as long as electors are in the line at the designated time for the closure of the Centers. The Department encourages qualified persons to participate in the re-registration exercise, especially during this time when additional Centers are open to facilitate the process.
