Former minister of youth, sports and culture in Bahamas Charles Maynard died suddenly on Tuesday while campaigning for a candidate in a parliamentary election. The 42-year-old collapsed from an apparent heart attack while riding in a car with another party official after leaving a campaign event. He was rushed to a clinic, but emergency medical personnel were unable to revive him. Maynard was campaigning for a by-election to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham. Maynard is survived by his wife, Zelena, and three daughters.
