A man was shot during a robbery at a bar in Belmopan. Police say it happened yesterday around midday. ACP Joseph Myvett, Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch says that the crime was committed by two men who were inside the establishment.
ACP Josephy Myvett: “Police responded to information of a robbery in progress at Chino’s Bar in the Industrial Site area of Belmopan where upon arrival they were informed that the proprietor one Elder Paredez received gunshot injuries and was transported to the Western Regional Hospital. Our investigation so far has shown that two creole decent male persons wearing black shirts were socializing at the establishment and shortly around midday both persons approached Paredez where one of them pulled out a firearm and fired a shot towards his direction which caught him in the stomach. He was robbed of his licensed 9mm pistol. At the time also a delivery truck was at the establishment. Both assailants then proceeded to the delivery truck where they attempted to open a deposit box that was attached to the delivery truck.”
Reporter: “Were they successful?”
ACP Josephy Myvett: “They were not and they then got on the motorcycle and left the area.”
Before the men left the establishment they took digital video recorder but police say there are other surveillance cameras in the area that police are looking at to identify the men. Police say they are following several leads and have suspects known only by aliases. The proprietor is in stable condition.//////////
