The Belize Association of General Managers for Pre and Primary Schools says that it will not dock its teachers’ salaries. The decision was relayed via a press statement issued yesterday. The association disputes statements made by BNTU’s President Senator Elena Smith last week. Smith stated that teachers who participated in the March 22 rally in Belmopan were told that their salaries will be docked by school managements. According to the Association, there was no decision to do so, even though they have the right to do so. Teachers will receive full salaries for March 2018. In our interview last week Senator Smith also stated that the membership of the union has decided to withhold contributions from school managements. The association says it views that decision as an attempt to divide Teachers and Managers. The Belize Association of General Managers for Pre and Primary Schools is appealing to the BNTU to promote a positive, meaningful, learning culture and environment for the continued enrichment of all stakeholders in Education.
