Several persons detained for separate murder investigations

The Belize Police Department continues its investigation into the murders of several men. Investigations continue into the murder of Jermaine Vellos, Leon Garcia, Frederick Smith and Charles Foreman. Sr. ASP Alejandro Cowo provided updates.

“Reference the murder of Mr. Leon Garcia police is still investigating that matter. We have two other suspects in custody at this moment that is being interviewed. In reference to Frederick Smith we have one person also in custody that we are interviewing at this moment. The other cases are still under investigation and we are looking for one more suspect reference the murder of Mr. Smith likewise; its two suspects but we have one in custody at this moment.”

 “Sir on the last occasion I think you were asked about a video circulating on Facebook where alleged gang members were taking responsibility for the Leon Garcia murder and threatening to further violence. You said that you did not seen the video at that time, have you seen that video and what is the police doing in regards to that video?”

“Well I know that it’s a video circulating, I will be honest again I was not in office for quite a while and so I have not seen it but I have heard people commenting about it now. So at this moment I cannot tell you what is the content of that video. I might be telling you a lie if I tell you it is saying this or saying that but I have personally not seen it.”

Are police looking into that?

Yes, definitely I know that the police is looking as to how that video came about and people are being questioned in regards to that video. If there is any fault on anybody in it the persons will be charged.”
