Shrimp Industry still battling deadly bacteria

Government Hulse is a very busy Government Minister and Senator. He is in charge of many portfolios including agriculture. So when we caught up with him over the weekend we asked him for an update with regards the shrimp industry.

Godwin Hulse, Minister of Agriculture: “The Shrimp Industry had been struggling a little bit because of the Early Death Syndrome Disease. There have been various technologies that have come to the forefront from various actors in the industry. All seem to be working and having some measure of success. My understanding is that the survival rate has increased a bit. One farm measures up to sixty five percent survival rate which is very good. There was a little hiccup last week with one of the big farms. Fortunately we were able to get over that; I’m so happy for that because there is no problem with markets, there is no problem with prices, there was only problem with production. And now it seems that is now coming back into its own and hopefully this industry can grow and balloon and get back into its glory days and beyond.”
