The US government has reportedly requested the extradition of a Belizean attorney for money laundering offenses. Today Solicitor General Nigel Hawke confirmed to Love News that his office has in fact received such a request. He would, however, not confirm the name of the attorney in question or the circumstances surrounding the request. Love News understands that the US government had set up a sting operation in which an agent posed as a businessman interested in laundering millions of dollars. We are told that his contact in Belize was the attorney who we understand was working with another Belizean businessman. The extradition request was received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since last week. This has been forwarded to the office of the Solicitor General, who, as we mentioned earlier, has confirmed receipt of such request.
