Today, St. John’s Credit Union celebrated its seventy-second anniversary with a fair, where school children from surrounding schools attended to learn more about the credit union. Over the past seventy-two years, the credit union has expanded its reach to the districts namely Belmopan and Dangriga and it can now boasts of over 25,000 members. Love News visited St. John’s Credit Union’s main office on Basra Street in Belize City, where we spoke with Neil Wade, the Internal Auditor at St. John’s Credit Union.
Neil Wade Internal Auditor St. john Credit Union: “Well today at the main office area on Brasa St.t we have a booth where we talk about St. Johns and the history of St. John’s and the different services and products and our benefits and we have partnered with other business and NGOs to spread the word: we have the Kidney Association ,we have the Blood pressure association through BFLA, we have partnered with some business partners namely Madisco and the Bravo Motors.”
Johnelle Mckenzie: “How many schools came by so far?”
Neil Wade Internal Auditor St. john Credit Union: “so far we had participants from three primary schools, we had Grace Primary who came by this morning, St. John’s primary and currently as you can see we have students from the Wesley upper school.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, Neil announced that the credit union is donating $1,500 to the Kidney Association.
Neil Wade – Internal Auditor, St. John’s Credit Union: “As a social organization we realize the need to assist in certain health issues that effect or community. I think in terms the Kidney disease is one of the silent disease that is affecting the country so we saw the need to contribute and donate to a worthy cause but we realize that the Kidney disease is something that we are affecting a lot of people and it’s very expensive to maintain to do those dialysis treatment.”
The seventy-second visitor to each location received a door prize as part of today’s celebration.
