Still no justice for Barranco

1 min read

Last month, the villagers of Barranco met with the Chief Forest Officer, Wilber Sabido, in the hope of getting approval for logging license concessions for five applicants who had been denied. However, in the meeting, they learnt that not only would they not be getting their licenses, but another person, Ruperto Blanco, who is not from the village, was granted logging concession license instead. To date, the villagers have still not been granted logging concession licenses. The President of the National Garifuna Council, Sandra Miranda, told Love news that they will be taking up the matter with Minister Omar Figueroa.
