Shops in the districts are not the only victims of robbery. Lately, just about every type of businesses have been robbed including hot dog vendors and small food shacks. On Friday night a meat shop, Supreme Meats was burglarized. ASP Alejandro Cowo, the Officer in Charge of CIB for Belize City says they caught the two suspects and they were both minors, fifteen and sixteen years old.
A.S.P. Alejandro Cowo – Head CIB: “In reference to the robbery report at the Supreme Meats located at 116 Cemetery Road. Friday just after 7 pm police responded to a robbery at that location where upon arrival one of the employees reported to the police that whilst he was cleaning inside of the business two minors entered the establishment and held them at gunpoint, stealing from them two cellular phones and a small amount of cash. Based on that report police arrested two minors yesterday for the crime of robbery, one is fifteen and one is sixteen. It is something that we have been seeing, it is developing, we know that the older criminal heads are using these minors to go and commit the robberies. A quick response led to the detention of one of the male persons and thereafter the other handed himself over on the following day.”
Cowo says that the two minors, though school aged, are not attending any educational institution.
