Taiwan’s Minister of Transportation and Communications Dr. Chia-Lung Lin visited Belize this week. His visit was very short but managed to meet with government ministers and leaders of town and city councils from across the country. Chia-Lung Lin told Love news that he was here to represent Taiwan’s president Tsai Ing-Wen for the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of diplomatic relations with Belize.
Dr. Chia-Lung Lin – Minster of Transportation & Communications, Taiwan: “On behalf of the Government of the Republic of China, Taiwan I came here to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Taiwan and Belize. Also, we signed an MOU on Tourism and some cooperation so we had a reception by your government and people. We achieved much progress in the bilateral relationship. We are also to participate in the Taiwan Belize Friendship Fair hoping that those Taiwanese people here in this beautiful country and people from Belize can participate in this fair so welcome. We are happy to strengthen the Taiwan Belizean relationship City to City label and we hope that we can share our experience with local governments here in affairs including E-lending, Tourism and some economic and trade relationship.
While in Belize, the Minister was accompanied by Ambassador Chin Li-Kuo as they unveiled friendship stamps; formalized a relationship between Belize’s Postal Service and Chunghwa Post; and announced technological updates to the new driver’s license system. On Saturday there will be a friendship fair on Taiwan Street which is near the Memorial Park in Belize City.
