Police say they do not have sufficient evidence to suspect foul play in the death of fifteen-year-old Angel Gabriel Cisneros, but the investigation into his death is still ongoing. ACP Joseph Myvett, Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, revealed that the teenager had left home following some family problems and never returned. On Monday March 12, Orange Walk Police were called out to an area in the bushes in San Jose Nuevo Palmar Village. The body was later identified as that of Angel Cisneros.

“A search party discovered his body yesterday. An onsite post mortem was done and the cause of death to be mechanical asphyxia due to hanging. Initial investigation with the family revealed that the deceased was having some problems and as a result of being disciplined he decided that he would leave home. Hence the reason according to the sister, the report was not made until this past Saturday 10th March.”

“Do police suspect any foul play?”

ACP Joseph Myvett – Head, National CIB

“No. Not at this point in time because the onsite post mortem was done yesterday and the doctor confirmed the that was in conformity with hanging.”

“But somebody can be forced the hang.”

ACP Joseph Myvett – Head, National CIB

“Yes we are aware of that. This is still an ongoing investigation, the investigation does not stop there.”

Cisneros was living with his sister and worked in San Pedro. Police say Cisneros died approximately five days ago.
