A two year old child is recovering from injuries he sustained after being attacked by a Pitbull. The attack happened on Saturday night around seven o’clock in the same yard where the child lives. According to police, the child lives with his mother, Briany Kelly in one of two houses in a fenced yard on Raccoon Street Extension. Another family member lives in a second house at the back of the yard. The Pitbull belongs to that family and was loose when the child and her mother entered the yard that night. ASP Alejandro Cowo, Head of the Crimes Investigation Branch in Belize City explains what happened.
ASP Alejandro Cowo Head Belize City C.I.B.: A female had just entered her residents at the Raccoon St. Extension #168 accompanied by her daughter. She just open the gate and as she open the gate she put the minor beside her and that was is when the minor was attacked by the Pitbull. The minor sustained several injuries to her body; she was rushed to the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital where she is currently being treated and is in a stable condition at this moment.
Reporter: Sir in situations like these how would police respond to such a situation, what conversation would be had with the family or the owners of said dog.
ASP Alejandro Cowo Head Belize City C.I.B.: Well it is a situation we are looking at as the incident happened in an enclosed yard, it is not out in the public that you can go and try get anything against the owner of the dog. They are all family members and that is what we are looking at to see how best we can assist.Asp
