Traffic accident sends man to the hospital

It was a year ago that four men died in two separate traffic incidents, which occurred on St. Margaret’s bridge. These incidents had spurred urgency in getting the bridge upgraded.  Those upgrades, however, proved useless on Saturday night as it was the scene of another fatal incident.  The media asked police officials for a report.

ACP Joseph Myvett: “Belmopan Police responded to and information of a road traffic accident in St. Margaret’s Village which is locate some 18 miles on the HummingBird Highway where upon arrival at the scene Police observed a red and a grey pickup on the Single Lane bridge which seemingly had collided head on. The red pick up was northbound while the grey pick up was south bound. The grey pick up was being driven by one Santos Choc who received head and leg injuries and was in an unconscious state. He was transported to the Western Regional Hospital for treatment whilst the other vehicle was being driven by one Teddram Reid who along with his passenger both of whom received no injuries.”

Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett said that both drivers of the vehicles were tested for alcohol content.
