34-year-old Ernesto Teck, a resident of Armenia Village remains hospitalized at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a stable condition. Teck, a BDF volunteer, was driving a motorcycle on Friday evening from his home en route to Belmopan. Upon reaching between mile 53 and 54 on the Hummingbird Highway there was a collision between the motorcycle and a Toyota Camry. The driver of the vehicle, 46-year-old Melvin Martinez of Roaring Creek Village spoke with Love News.
“I was travelling from Belmopan into Las Flores along with my family when I intended to make a left turn into Maravilla Street — before making the turn I looked up in the direction from Dangriga to Belmopan and I did not see anything coming from that direction so I made the turn. Suddenly I heard a bang on my car. I did now know what had happened because I didn’t see anything but as I came out of the car I saw a motorcycle underneath my car’s bumper; then I observed that my bumper had been split by the driver’s side. I did not see any driver until a passerby came and told me that the person was lying down unconscious in the nearby bushes. After that, the police came and they processed the scene.”
Teck was found in an unconscious state with a right broken leg and injuries to his head. He was taken to the Western Regional Hospital and then transferred to the KHMH. Martinez has been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
