Belmopan Police have charged two men with the murder of Israel Perez. The men identified by police as 33-year-old Cruz Castillo and 22-year-old Stanley Herrera, both of Cotton Tree Village, were charged this afternoon with murder. They are scheduled to return to court on April 12. A post-mortem examination has also certified that Perez bled to death, internally and externally due to multiple stab wounds, some of which punctured his lungs and liver. Perez’s body was found on the morning of February six in a shallow grave in Harmonyville. His body was found by a friend who decided to search for him in an area where he reported to have seen Perez’s vehicle many times. Today police say the men who were charged are men Perez was familiar with. Still, police have not established a motive for the murder. They also confirmed that they have recovered and impounded his vehicle. Police report that they found some of Perez’s personal belongings in the possession of someone else but would not confirm if those persons were the men charged today.
