Two men were shot in separate incidents in the last 24 hours. The first incident happened in Belize City where 25 year old Akeen Requena, a resident of Belize City, was shot while walking on Gibnut Street into Fullers Alley around 7:25 last night. Police say two male persons on a motorcycle traveling from the direction of Welch Street heading to Curassow Street drove up to Requena and fired several shots at him. Requena was shot in the right side of his lower back. He is in stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

In the second incident, 27-year-old Dareen Metzgar, a resident of Central Farm Village was shot and injured early this morning. Police report that Metzgar heard his sheep and dogs make noise on the farm he was at around four o’clock in the morning. When he made checks, he was hot in his left leg. He was taken to the San Ignacio Hospital and later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
