Two park rangers have been reported missing. Love News has confirmed that one of them is Elroy Villanueva who is in his early twenties. We are told that the men work at the Caracol Archeological site under the Institute of Archeology and that they went missing yesterday evening. Caracol is extremely close to Belize’s border with Guatemala and the family is urging authorities to find the men alive and well. Andrew Chacon, Villanueva’s uncle to spoke to Love News.

ANDREW CHACON, UNCLE OF ELROY VILLANUEVA

“According to NICH from yesterday afternoon, he went missing. He and another co-worker went missing off the site and we never got them; actually, they never gave we any information until this evening they get to the family and let the family know that the gentleman went missing.”

“Do you know the circumstances under which he went missing?”

ANDREW CHACON, UNCLE OF ELROY VILLANUEVA

“I am not too sure at this moment, we are not too sure exactly how comes he went missing because he works on the site. I am not hundred percent sure but I spoke to the guy form NICH, a couple minutes ago and he said they sent out a search team and they have no result, they haven’t seen any trace or anything from since then, from the BDF. I think they have some BDF and about two Police stations out there but for me personally from since he went missing yesterday I believe that they should put more emphasis and more interest into it and try to create a bigger search party out there especially since it is on the borderline. The family is very shocked at it; the family is especially disappointed in NICH for just informing the family this evening, long after twenty-four hours since he went missing. He was out there whole night last night from whole day today and still they haven’t found anything, any result or any trace of him. They take precaution a lot since they’re working at that site right because the reason why it is too close to the Guatemalans, the Guatemalan borderline so they take every precaution, they take a lot of precaution while working out there.”

“And I would imagine the family is calling out the authority to do everything they can to find these guys?”

ANDREW CHACON, UNCLE OF ELROY VILLANUEVA

“That is what we are trying to do and that is the reason why we are getting into the media so that the media can help us in pressing the issue so that they can do what they need to do as fast as possible to try to see if we can recover them safely and alive is the biggest interest at the time.”
