Mathias R. Vairez Jr., a Lecturer at the University of Belize, has been recognized by the Prairie View A&M University in the United States of America where he did his doctoral.  Vairez along with three other colleagues wrote a research article entitled “Does Diversity Really Matter?” The article discussed the interplay between students’ race and their teachers’ level of cultural responsiveness.   The paper was selected as the winner from among the highest-ranked articles.  The President of the University of Belize, Professor Emeritus Clement Sankat congratulated Vairez on this award and encourages him to keep up the good work by continuing to conduct research and be a good example to his students as well as colleagues.   This recognition comes at a crucial time when President Sankat is pushing for postgraduate research to be conducted at the university as a part of the Transformational Plan 2017-2022.
