63-year-old, Carlton Wade is the latest victim of the criminal elements in Belize.  Wade met his death last night at the hands of robbers who went armed to his Dollar Kite Shop last night between eight thirty and nine o’clock. The murder happened in the New Site area of Hattieville Village, Belize District, at a store, well known to the villagers. The motive, according to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alejandro Cowo, was a robbery that turned deadly.

A.S.P. Alejandro Cowo – Head CIB: “Last Night just before 9 pm police responded to a shooting incident at 17 miles on the George Price Highway where upon arrival at Kite Shop they observed the motionless body of Mr. Carlton Wade 63 year old inside of his shop. What police gathered so far is that Mr. Wade was along with other family members inside of the shop when two young male persons entered the shop and demanded him to hand over the cash that he had. Mr. Wade according to information that we received, he believed that they were playing and as a result, the persons who had a firearm, one of them fired the shot at Mr. Wade causing his fatal injuries. We suspect that they are from the neighboring village, at this moment I know that a minor has been detained and he is presently being interviewed in regards to this investigation. Police on the scene, they found a toy gun apparently that was being utilized by one of the suspects.

According to ASP Cowo, they have yet to ascertain if anything was stolen.  Love News understands that at the entrance of the shop, Scenes of Crime personnel found a black toy gun and a slug.  Reports to our newsroom indicate that there were three robbers with rags over their faces and one of them armed with a firearm./////////
