Thirty year old Vildo Westby, a baker of Guinea Grass Village, who the police had been seeking for over 18 months, was charged with the murder of 44 year old Jose Ayuso when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford yesterday. Westby was remanded into custody until November 6. He was represented by attorney Dickie Bradley. The incident occurred in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, on February 2, 2017. Ayuso’s sister went to his house at the corner of Jewfish Street and Seaweed Street, on February 2 after she became concerned because he was not answering his cell phone. She found him lying on his bed in a crouched position with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. The police reported that their investigation led them to Westby and they launched a manhunt for him which ended on Sunday when he was located in Vera Cruz, Mexico, by Mexican authorities. He was handed over to Immigration Department and immigration handed him over to the police. Ayuso was the owner of a unisex salon in San Pedro.
