One hundred social workers, educators, counselors, administrators and youth workers participated in a suicide prevention training. The Youth Rise Project in the Ministry of Human Development Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation in collaboration with Galen University hosted the training which took place from May 24 to June 1 in several districts. The participants learnt what signs to look for in determining whether a youth is at risk of committing suicide and how to respond and assist such youths. The purpose of the training was twofold, it served to strengthen the care and support offered to families and children that have experienced child abuse and neglect as well as build the capacity of service providers and substitute care providers in the country.
