The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Republic of China (Taiwan) Partners to Help Women in Belize

Seven groups from across Belize were beneficiaries of a project called, “Enhancing the Economic Empowerment of Women in Latin America and the Caribbean in the COVID-19 Post-Pandemic Era: Technical Assistance for Women Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Financial Inclusion”. Grants were handed over to the BELTRAIDE, The Heritage Education Network Belize and the Belize Tourism Industry Association of Caye Caulker. Start-up support was also provided to four entities, selected from the Belize Investment Summit 2021 “Start-up Pitch Competition”. They are the Luba Ereba Women’s Group, who won the competition with their cassava bakery. Angel Fund recipients include Wild Roots, for their organic natural juices; Zero Belize for producing paper bags; and Umbraland Boots and Leather for their genuine leather products. The project is a joint partnership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Republic of China (Taiwan). CEO Amalia Mai and Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien were on hand for Tuesday’s handover of the funds. The project has directly supported the empowerment of 125 women and youth during these economically challenging times.
