$1.9M Infrastructure Project Set to Light Up San Carlos Village

As we’ve reported, 1.9 million dollars is being pumped into San Carlos Village, Orange Walk to improve its main access road. The upgrade is expected to fast pace improved infrastructure for the village and nearby communities. For the past decades, residents of San Carlos and Indian Church have not had access to electricity due to a lack of infrastructure needed for connection to the national grid. Fortunately, the government has allocated funds and is working with the European Union’s Lait Up Belize Project to brighten the villagers’ lives. Orange Walk South Area Representative Jose Mai spoke about the need for electricity in the remote village and the urgency to make it a reality.

Mai says the venture will also allow the villages to grow their tourism product.
