Today, the Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 108 new cases of COVID-19. Six people are hospitalised and fortunately, there were new fatalities. However, the daily positivity rate was almost sixteen percent. Of today’s new infections, Belize District had 39, 32 of which were in Belize City. Cayo was next with 29, which includes 11 in San Ignacio and Santa Elena combined. Orange Walk had 17, eight of which were in the town. The southern districts had a total of 13 altogether while San Pedro and Corozal had ten cases together. Cabinet reported today that there are more than 209,950 vaccines on hand. As of Monday, 227 thousand 658 persons or 52.9 percent had received at least one dose of the vaccine and 217 thousand 803 persons or 50.6 percent have been fully vaccinated. Of the population ages 12 to 17 years, almost 27 thousand or 45.8 percent have received two doses of the vaccines and 5,274 or 7.2 percent of the population ages 5 to 11 have received two doses of the vaccines.
