Police has made an arrest in the triple shooting that occurred five days ago on Antelope Street Extension, Belize City. The accused is only 16 years old and is facing a slew of charges including three counts of attempted murder, three counts of deadly means of harm and three counts of dangerous harm.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, Crimes Investigation Branch: “In reference to the shooting of Marvin Martin and the two other family members which had occurred on Sunday the 24th in the Antelope Street Extension area on yesterday’s date police have since arrested and charged a 16-year-old male minor in the presence of his father for three counts of attempted murder, three counts of use of deadly means of harm, three counts of dangerous harm.”
Reporter: Any motive ?
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, Crimes Investigation Branch: “At this point in time no we haven’t been able to establish a motive.”
Reporter: Is he the sole person that police are looking at?
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, Crimes Investigation Branch: “At this point yes. If you can recall police had initially detained two other persons.”
Reporter: The young lady, do you know her condition?
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, Crimes Investigation Branch: “She still remains in a critical condition and the other two persons have since been released, the child and Mr.Martin have been released.”
In that incident, a young lady, a man and an infant were shot just after seven o’clock in the night. 23-year-old, Mervin Martin, 16-year-old Chantuse Martinez and a 1-year-old were at the house of Cecil Martin when a male person approached the house and fired several shots. According to Cecil Martin, father of Mervin Martin, Chantuse was shot in her back and leg, Mervin was shot in his back and the infant was shot in the elbow. All three victims are recovering from the injuries.
