17-year-old killed after being struck by boat while swimming in Belize

Tragedy struck yesterday on Ambergris Caye. 17-year-old Logan Ceylon Pratt lost her life after she was struck by a boat while swimming off the coast of the island at around 2:15 in the afternoon. Love News has confirmed that Logan received abrasions and cuts. Police say that the Oklahoma student was struck by a 25 feet Fiberglass Skiff named “Mathew” which belongs to Belize Pro Dive Center Limited. The captain of the boat, 30-year-old Jesse James Smith told investigators that he was returning to the island from a tour at Mexico Rocks, which is located 9 miles north of San Pedro Town when he heard a bang. When he turned the boat around, he heard a woman screaming in the water and observed another female in the water suffering from cut wounds to her body. She was rushed to the Ambergris Hope Clinic where she was pronounced shortly after 3 o’clock. Pratt and her family members arrived in Belize on February 12. Smith is in police detention. A urine sample was obtained.
