2023-2024 Budget Debate Kicks Off

The 2023–2024 budget debate is underway in Belmopan today. Kicking off the debate was Leader of the Opposition Moses Barrow, who spoke for almost two hours, criticizing the Briceno Administration. During his budget contribution, Prime Minister John Briceno left the national assembly building to meet with protestors. PM Briceno said he did not miss anything important.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “I’m not missing much. None of you are missing much. If you thought that that was more important than being out here you would have stayed out there. I mean really the thing is that the Leader of the Opposition is rambling all over the place and I’m trying to be very respectful to the Leader of the Opposition. It’s a position that’s in the constitution and as such we should respect it but he’s been just rambling all over the place and make actually no sense but I’ll go back and finish listening to what he has to say.”
