Charles Buckner, charged with sexual assault on a female minor, was sentenced to three years today by the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith after he was found guilty of the charge. The incident occurred around 11:55 a.m. on July 16, 2013. The minor, who was 12 years old at the time, testified that she was at the house of her grand aunt and was lying on her side on the bed watching television when Buckner came into the room and told her that if she said anything he will deal with her. She said Buckner then proceeded to take off her tights and underwear and he performed oral sex on her. She said Buckner stopped when he heard a screeching sound the gate makes when it is opened. The sound signalled the arrival of Buckner’s helper, whom he had sent to the shop to buy. She said Buckner went back to the bathroom and she went to the computer room and got a cellular phone and she called her mother and told her what had happened. Her mother came to the house and contacted the police. After the girl made the report to the police and the police investigated they arrested Bucker and charged him with burglary and aggravated assault of an indecent nature. But the burglary charge was dismissed because there was no evidence to support the charge. Buckner testified and denied that he committed the sexual assault. But Chief Magistrate Smith did not believe him and she found him guilty.
