546 applicants set to take Coast Guard exam

The Belize Coast Guard has registered a total of 800 applicants for this recent intake.  Of this amount, 546 have been deemed qualified to sit the exam on Saturday, July 29.  The exam will entail a swim test, a 1.5 mile run, face to face interviews and a written assessment.  At the end of it all, only 60 will be accepted.  In an interview conducted recently with BCG Commandant, Rear Admiral Elton Bennett, the unit is held to a high standards, and the applicants must reflect a willingness to abide by and maintain that standard.  The successful sixty will begin their official training in September with a graduation scheduled for November.
