7-Year-Old Killed in Road Traffic Incident in Corozal, Driver Detained

A minor lost his life yesterday in a road traffic incident in the Corozal District. Police say 7-year-old Juan Osorio was riding his bicycle on Third Street in Corozal Town when he was hit by a truck. The minor received severe injuries to his body and died on the spot. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, says the driver of the truck has since been detained and is pending charges.

Hilberto Romero, Senior Superintendent of Police: “Information is that he was riding his bicycle when he was knocked down by a motor vehicle at the time being driven by Robert Saldivar. The child was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on rival. Robert Saldivar is in custody awaiting charges at this time. A decision has been made to proceed with charges.”
