78-Year-Old Alicia Maria Jacome Missing for One Week, Family Seeks Public’s Help

Today makes one week since, family and friends last saw 78-Year-old Alicia Maria Jacome, with ties to Guatemala and Belize went missing. Last week Thursday, Jacome was visiting her grandson after 7 years at La Gracia Village in Cayo District. She reportedly came from Guatemala with two other grandchildren. The following day, her grandson 25-year-old Onelsi Adnoldo Villeda reported that his grandmother was nowhere to be found. Villeda is seeking the public’s assistance in locating his grandmother.

Onelsi Adnoldo Villeda, Grandson of Missing Woman: “We still don’t know her whereabouts. We understand that she is suffering from this disease called Alzheimer’s, which is not treated. We think she walked through the area and forgot her way. We don’t know where she is and we want to find her. For all those who are listening and if you have any information, please contact us and let us know because so far we have walked the entire area, the neighbors and people who have come from various places to help us. Right now we are with the soldiers and we are all searching and we have not found my grandmother. She came to visit me about May 11th for my birthday, which was May 14th. She was here with me for a few days and three days ago on the last day, she was with us. We got up, made a meal, we all ate, and after a while, we were relaxing there. We all fell asleep, including my grandmother and when we woke up she was not in the hammock. From the moment she disappeared for about 25 minutes we started searching. I called for all the residents here close to the property where I am if they saw her. Everyone got together to search. We have searched day and night and we haven’t found anything. We hope that she has gone outside in some direction. Maybe she’s lost and well someone has her out there, right? That’s what we hope.”

The farm is about 1000 acres of farmland, surrounded by bushes and creeks. According to Villeda, Jacome has Alzheimer’s disease and was seen earlier on that same day walking on a road that’s about 25 minutes away from the farm. The woman is described as 5 feet tall with short grey hair, light brown eyes, and a clear complexion. She was last seen wearing a green and red patterned blouse, black shorts and black flip flops.
