SJC Delegates Win Top Honors at Model OAS in Washington

Belize has scored a proud achievement in Washington, D.C., where the St. John’s College delegation secured two of the top honors at the prestigious Model Organization of American StatesCompeting against student diplomats from multiple OAS member states, SJC delegates Manik Vanjani and Mitchel El Ters both earned Best Statement Awards, a testament to their strong preparation, articulate advocacy, and sharp understanding of regional issues.  The Model OAS brings together student representatives from across the hemisphere to simulate the workings of the Permanent Council and General Assembly, fostering leadership, public speaking, negotiation skills, and real-world policy engagement.   Against high-level competition, the Belizean delegates stood out for their clarity, confidence, and well-crafted positions.  St. John’s College says the dual win reflects the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and global citizenship. It is also another moment of pride for Belize on the international stage as young leaders continue to demonstrate their readiness to contribute to regional dialogue and diplomacy.
