Tonight, the Ministry of National Security is recording its first COVID-19 death. A female volunteer in the Belize Defence Force passed away last night reportedly of Covid-19 related complications.  The Belize City resident was stationed in Belmopan for duty prior to her diagnosis. We were able to speak to Deputy Commander of the BDF Colonel Azariel Loria who gave us a feel on how the force is handling its first loss.

Col. Azariel Loria, Deputy Commander, Belize Defence Force: “We know that the epicenter is in Orange Walk as reported by the DHS however this person was working in Belmopan, her family is in Belize City and indeed from what we were told is that she tested positive but she had a preexisting condition that worsened when she was infected with the virus.”

Love News understands that over six dozen persons in the force have tested positive for COVID-19.
