A Sunday drink among friends in Red Bank Village, Stann Creek took a turn for the worse when a man was killed and a minor was stabbed several times. According to police, 21-year-old, Bonafacio Shoh and a 13-year-old student were drinking alcohol with several men around 5 o’clock yesterday evening. A physical altercation ensued and one of the men produced a hunter’s knife and stabbed Shoh once in the abdomen and the minor in his jaw, stomach, and arm. He then fled the area while Shoh and the minor were rushed to the Independence Polyclinic. Police Press officer, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood says police have since detained the suspect.
ASP. Fitzroy Yearwood, Public Relations, Belize Police Department: “Clearly we can see where consumption of alcohol has led to this recent murder. We know that Benefacio Rash, 21 years laborer of Stann Creek district had apparent stab wounds to the lower side of the abdomen. Initial police report investigation revealed that Adrian Sho a 13 year old also received injuries in this incident and we have one man detained that we believe is responsible for this murder. We know that these men were in Red Bank Village socializing when an incident occurred between Benefacio Sho and Francisco Sho and Adrian Sho. We know that these men were taken to the polyclinic in Independence where Benefacio succumbed to his injuries. We have the others that were socializing with him in custody Jose Cal where we also have what is believed to be the murder weapon. Hopefully by the end of today we will have charges levied in this recent murder.”
