A couple of weeks ago, Canadian national Jasmine Hartin was accused of putting a hit on Police Commissioner Chester Williams and the Director of Family Court Dale Cayetano. That matter was resolved with no one getting hurt, but reports reaching our newsroom are that a Belize City judge is being threatened. We asked Williams about it today.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I’m sure the entire media and the public had heard about the Jasmine Hartin issue where myself and the Director of the National, of the Family Court were allegedly threatened by her and other than that we know of another instance where there were some inquires of a particular judge and what we have done is to increase our security where that judge is concerned. In terms of the matter with Jasmine Hartin, we had investigated that matter and we did not come out with anything credible to show that the threat was actually made or if the threat was real.”
Reporter: The threat against the other judge, that’s high level threat?
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “It’s not high level but we’re not going to take any chances.”
