Minister of Transport, Rodwell Ferguson was in Chetumal this weekend, attending an official inaugural ceremony for ADO Bus Company. The ceremony was conducted to officially mark the re-entry of the company into Belize, and to re-introduce its direct route between Belize and Cancun, Mexico. In an interview this morning, Minister Ferguson told Love News that the runs actually began on July 24, and there have been no hiccups or problems reported to his ministry.
Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Transport: “It was a very good meeting with them. They had a good show, they had a good turnout and effective immediately ADO is going to come back into Belize between Cancun and Belize. Eventually they will start the Merida run but if you want to go to Merida you can still catch the bus to Chetumal and then you can change the bus to Merida. Since it commenced Renee and the one from Guatemala there is absolutely no complaint from the local bus operators so apparently everything is working smoothly.”
During the ceremony, ADO announced that they will begin their trips to Cancun from Belize City starting this week. The bus leaves Cancun’s terminal at 7:10am and leaves Belize City at 7pm for a direct trip to Cancun. The bus ride between both destinations is an estimated seven hours. One way tickets are currently sixty seven US dollars per person.
