Agriculture Show to Spotlight Drones and Innovation in Farming

The National Agriculture and Trade Show 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most dynamic in recent years, with a strong focus on innovation, market access, and new opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs. This year’s event will feature a range of attractions, including exhibitions, a cattle parade through the streets of Belmopan, horse races, and a highly anticipated drone display highlighting the role of technology in modern agriculture. The three-day event, which opens to the public on Thursday, April 30, is designed to connect producers directly with markets while showcasing advancements that are transforming the sector. Communications Director in the Ministry of Agriculture, Louis Pook, says one of the major highlights this year is the use of drone technology, which is becoming increasingly important for farmers.

Beyond the technology, the Belize Marketing and Development Corporation is also playing a key role in linking farmers to markets and expanding opportunities for small producers. Senior Projects Officer Sergio Tillett says their work focuses on helping farmers move their products while creating new value-added opportunities.

Tillett explains that through initiatives like fruit processing and product development, farmers are being connected to businesses across the country, including hotels and restaurants, creating a steady demand for local produce. Other attractions at this year’s show include agricultural displays, educational exhibits, and family-friendly activities, with organizers expecting strong turnout over the long holiday weekend.
