Allan Williams, the 51-year-old convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl last week, received a fine instead of prison time. Williams appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, for his sentencing hearing along with his attorneys Norman Rodriguez and Hubert Elrington Senior Counsel. Williams was convicted last Thursday, November 28, and today his attorneys presented reasons why he should be spared jail time. He was fined a total of two thousand, six hundred and fifty-five dollars. When deciding his sentence, the Magistrate considered the fact that Williams suffers from high blood pressure and often has seizures. The judge also took into account the crime Williams was convicted of and the aggravating factors in the case. After careful consideration, the Magistrate imposed a fine of $2,650 on Williams. He has until May next year to pay the fine or face 9 months in imprisonment.
