As we said, one of the key allegations that Sergio Chuc, Marlon Kuylen and Cruz Gamez are making against FFB president Ruperto Vicente and Secretary General, Michael Blease, is that they are interfering in the District Association elections. In Orange Walk, Ladrick “Madbull Sheppard complained last week that he has not been getting the information needed to carry a successful campaign against the incumbent Chairman Rafael Avila. We asked Vicente about that matter.
RUPERTO VICENTE: “Yesterday Mr. Madbull Shepherd brought all his documents to the federation so he got all his documents signed so there’s no hiding of information. Let me run through what has happened here, remember that we had set election date for the districts for October last year and in the district statutes, there is no requirement for electoral committee to do that election but once one person cries out foul then the federation must activate an electoral committee. On the fifth of December, the federation called an extraordinary congress and at that congress the electoral committee was elected, not appointed now, by all congress members. Everyone was there, executive members, managers of all the activities of the federation and as well as the chairpersons of the districts. They were all there. Everybody was there and these people were elected to serve the federation on the electoral committee so even though the date of nomination had been closed, the electoral committee in its power opened nominations so we cannot say we are interfering with the process. I have never interfered with the process and I will repeat again; I will not interfere with it and Mr. Blease cannot interfere with it because the electoral committee is an independent committee so they dictate to the federation. When they need information, Mr. Blease is called in to give information to the electoral committee.”
