Two elderly men were hospitalized over the weekend after they were stabbed during an altercation in the Rural Belize District. On Saturday night, around 11 o’clock, a group of people was socializing after a cricket match in Lemonal Village when an argument ensued between 23-year-old Dwayne Sutherland, 62-year-old Russell Anthony, and 64-year-old Tony Anthony. According to police, Sutherland pulled a knife from his waist and stabbed both men before being stopped by an officer who fired warning shots in the air. The officer managed to subdue Sutherland and detained him before checking on the men, who were bleeding profusely. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, explained that the men were then transported to the hospital, where they received medical attention.
