American Shoplifters Face Legal Woes in Belize, Including Removal Order
The three American nationals, who were caught shoplifting in San Pedro, now have bigger problems after they failed to produce documentation to show that they are legally in Belize. The trio, 26-year-old Elexa Taylor Chism; 29-year-old, Karim Osman, and 45-year-old, David Blake Pendergrast appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, each charged with a single count of failure to produce a visitors permit. They wasted no time, and pleaded guilty to the offense and were fined a thousand dollars each which must be paid forthwith or they’ll face a year in prison. The Immigration Department also applied for a removal order which was granted with an execution date of November 24. According to the court, this will allow the group time to get their travel documents through the United States Embassy. Interestingly, Love News found that Pendergrast is wanted in the US for the theft of a catamaran valued at one point five million US dollars. The Catamaran, last seen in the Bahamas, reportedly belongs to a Canadian automotive executive.
