Cayo South Area Representative, Julius Espat will not attend tomorrow’s sitting of the House of Representatives. Espat called a press conference today in Belmopan where he explained that a warrant for his arrest has been issued.
“The Honorable Said Musa wrote a letter to the Speaker of the House and it is under the Fort George’s division letterhead and it says “notice of a privilege motion. Pursuant to standing orders 29 and 44 (7), to the honorable speaker of the house of representatives take notice that the Right Honorable member for Fort George wishes to rise on a matter on affecting the privilege of the house and to move the following resolution at the Sitting of the House on Friday December 9th 2016. Be it resolved that this honorable house thereby terminate the suspension of the honorable member of Cayo South forthwith and that he be permitted to resume his duties in the house on behalf of the people of Cayo South at this sitting dated the 7th Day of September 2016.” Signed Rt.Honorable Said Musa representative from Fort George.”
Espat is suspended from the House of Representative. He took the matter before the courts but the Chief Justice struck out the case.
