Andre Vega, the son of former Lands Minister, Gaspar Vega was ordered to repay four hundred thousand dollars in compensation that he had gotten for a parcel of land near the Haulover Bridge. The matter was appealed and Vega’s attorney, Estevan Perrera spoke briefly on the matter earlier today.
Estevan Perrera, Attorney: “The Andre Vega case we are currently at the Court of Appeal and we are waiting for a date for that to come up. Once that comes up the Court of Appeal will hear our positions and they will ultimately make a decision in respect to whether or not the judgement is sound or if it is to be set aside.”
This land compensation matter created high tensions that led Gaspar Vega to resign as the Minister of Natural Resources back in October 2016.
