Another Daylight Murder Shakes Belize City, Victim’s Family Seeks Justice

A daylight murder in Belize City has left a family from the Conch Shell Bay area at a loss for words after another one of their relatives was claimed by gun violence. This morning, 19-year-old, Aaron Chavez suffered the same fate as his mother, Michelle Anderson, who was shot and killed in 2018. The Belize City teenager was targeted and left for dead as he walked in the St. Martin’s de Porres. Reporter Vejea Alvarez and Cameraman, Sean Lopez arrived at the scene shortly after the murder.  Here is their report.

Chavez does appear in our news archives as back in June 2022, he was charged for stealing a cameraman’s equipment.  After being arraigned for theft, he managed to escape from police custody, but was later apprehended.  As recent as January 2023, Chavez was charged and remanded after allegedly robbing two gas pump attendants in Lindo’s Alley, Belize City.
