Aggravated assaults are not the only kinds of crimes that can cause long-term emotional distress to its victims. When aggravated burglary occurs, more commonly known as home invasions, entire families are victims and cannot trust the walls they expected to keep them safe. Last night the Ramirez family in Belize City became the latest victim of this heinous crime.
58-year-old Vilma Ramirez believed she was safely at home with her husband Elias Ramirez. But after ten p.m. two men entered their house on Pitter Street. One of the assailants was armed with a firearm and the other with a knife. The men tied up both Vilma and her husband while they searched the house for valuables. For all the pain they caused, the men only took two cell phones, a gold watch and a silver ring.
