A police officer is in police custody as Police in Toledo investigate the landing of a plane in that district. According to police, the plane landed about three miles outside Barranco Village. Police report that personnel of the Anti-Narcotics Unit and the Belize Special Assignment Group intercepted the plane but not until after the contents had been unloaded and taken away. They also intercepted a vehicle that carried fuel. According to police, inside that vehicle they found a police officer and another civilian. Our Toledo Correspondent Paul Mahung reports.
Paul Mahung Toledo Correspondent: “ A drug plane is under police guard near Barranco in the Toledo District. Reliable information here confirmed that a drug plane landed sometime between 9 to 10 PM last night on a farm in the outskirts of Barranco and about a mile off the Barranco Rd. Reports indicated that Police Constable Peter Graham of Punta Gorda Police Formation was found in the vicinity of the area and amidst allegations was detained by police in connection with the landing of the plane which was found without any cargo or occupants on board. Police say that the department and other partner agencies have launched a vigorous investigation into the case.
